Former Rocky River police officer gets early release from prison

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A former Rocky River police officer who pleaded guilty in November 2025 to three counts of unauthorized use of the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway, a fifth-degree felony, was released early from prison.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said Michael Bernhardt ran illegal searches on Rocky River students and their family members, other law enforcement officers and colleagues, school teachers and school administrators, and his own family members and ex-spouses
