Speaker addresses hope, home at Martin Luther King breakfast in Kent

The Portage County NAACP paid tribute to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at its annual prayer breakfast and commemoration Jan. 17, drawing a comparison to a familiar sight around Kent to make his point.

The Rev. Walter Ratcliffe was the keynote speaker at the breakfast, which took place at the Kent United Church of Christ. Ratcliffe’s speech was titled “The Power of Hope” and he spoke about how both King and the NAACP have served as champions for the Black community.
