Plain trustees to decide fate of housing development rezoning request

PLAIN TWP. − Township trustees must decide whether to approve a rezoning request that would allow construction of a 120-unit housing development on 59 acres near the former Sanctuary Golf Course.

Despite community opposition, the township’s Zoning Commission by a 3-to-1 vote recommended approval of the proposed zone change for the land east of Elmhurst Avenue NW north and south of Ivy Street NW.

With the commission’s vote on Jan. 14 at GlenOak High School, the township is expected to announce a location for the trustees hearing for 6 p.m. Feb. 9, said Zoning Director Chuck Shalenberger…
