Families braved single-digit temperatures for Akron’s first-ever Frost Fest downtown

AKRON, Ohio — Families and visitors ventured into downtown Akron on Saturday for the city’s first-ever Frost Fest, undeterred by single-digit temperatures that persisted throughout the day.

The free festival ran from noon to 5 p.m. and featured activities at more than two dozen businesses and public spaces. Organizers created the event to help residents embrace the cold weather while exploring downtown’s offerings during the winter months.

Activities spanned Main Street, the Northside District and Lock 3, with participating businesses providing complimentary crafts, entertainment and refreshments. The festival included live ice-carving demonstrations, hot cocoa, a cookie crawl, costume character appearances, balloon art and performances by local musicians…
