AARP Foundation has announced free tax assistance and preparation through its Tax-Aide program.
Portage County has three AARP tax preparation sites − Reed Memorial Library (Mondays); Streetsboro United Methodist Church (Wednesdays and Thursdays); and Kent United Methodist Church (Fridays and Saturdays). Locations in surrounding counties can be found on AARP’s location finder.
Appointments are required and can be made by calling 211 or 330-297-4636. Taxpayers normally wait while their taxes are prepared, or possibly could be required to return later for another appointment. A certified counselor files returns electronically. Tax preparation concludes in early April…
