AKRON, Ohio — A Ravenna woman could spend up to 15 years in prison for setting a fire at an apartment building in 2024, causing widespread damage and killing a tenant’s pet cat.
Courtney Cooney, 33, pleaded guilty in December to two counts of aggravated arson, and second-degree aggravated arson, burglary, cruelty to companion animals, and criminal damaging or endangering, Summit County court records show.
A judge sentenced her Monday to 10 to 15 years in prison. She also was placed on the Ohio Arson Registry and will be required to register with her local county sheriff’s office once a year for the rest of her life once released from prison…
