Girlfriend charged in man’s shooting death inside Akron residence

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — A woman is in jail after a 33-year-old man was found shot to death in an Akron residence.

According to Akron Police, officers and medics responded to the 800 block of White Pine Drive on Feb. 3 just after 8 p.m.

A man, identified Wednesday as Christopher Butler of Akron was found lying on the bedroom floor suffering from a gunshot wound.

According to Akron Police, Butler was at the residence visiting his girlfriend, Candance Jackson, 44. The two became involved in a verbal altercation, police said, and at some point Jackson retrieved a firearm “which discharged, fatally striking the victim.”
