Barberton police officer injured after being struck with hammer during domestic violence call

BARBERTON, Ohio — 3News has learned that a Barberton police officer was injured Monday morning after being struck with a hammer while responding to a domestic violence call.

According to a Barberton police report, officers were called around 6:45 a.m. to a home in the 600 block of Charles Avenue for a reported domestic violence incident involving an adult son and his father.

Police say the father reported that his son, Jacob Culbertson, 34, had been drinking throughout the night and became disruptive inside the home. The father told officers that Culbertson threw a nearly empty beer can at him and struck him with a rubberized object. A domestic violence statement was later completed…
