AKRON, Ohio – The city of Akron and the Akron Parks Collaborative have kicked off the Akron Parks Challenge 2026.
The challenge aims to engage communities around neighborhood parks by creating functional and visually appealing public spaces. This year’s winning park will receive $150,000 worth of capital improvements.
Interested organizations or residents can apply with their name, email address and the name of the park that they would like to help improve by Feb. 23. The Akron Parks Collaborative will then coordinate information sessions and workshops to establish a park friend group and complete applications, according to a news release.
