NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — After a physical altercation between a parent and a referee at a youth wrestling tournament last weekend in North Olmsted was caught on surveillance video, the organization that hosted the event has responded.
In a statement on Thursday, the Buckeye Wrestling Association (BWA) announced that it has issued a lifetime ban to the parent, 38-year-old William Dies of Brecksville, which covers all events — including as a spectator. The referee who was involved has been pulled from working the two remaining BWA events “for his safety.”
In addition, the BWA has put the Brecksville team on probation, “which will include a zero tolerance policy on any incidents over the next year.”…
