AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – Akron firefighters saved the lives of five dogs and a cat from the smoke and flames filling their house as the closest hydrant was frozen, Akron Fire Fighters Local 330 confirmed.
South side crews arrived to find heavy smoke billowing from the front door on Sunday, according to AFFL.
Firefighters quickly discovered the closest hydrant was frozen, which forced them to stretch to another that was working amid the freezing conditions, AFFL said.
