Akron Community Shaken by Fatal Shooting Near University Campus, Police Seek Information

The sense of routine normalcy overshadowed by periodic violence has once again made itself apparent in the city of Akron, where a 28-year-old man’s life was abruptly terminated due to gunfire. In a report by Cleveland 19, the collaboration of the Summit County Medical Examiner and the Akron Police Department was detailed following the homicide that occurred Tuesday morning, a stone’s throw from the University of Akron campus. The victim, identified as Daivan Floyd, was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound, lying on the living room floor of a Nash Street residence, and pronounced dead at the scene, as rushed first responders could do naught but bear witness to the aftermath.

The Akron Police Department, meanwhile, has yet to apprehend any suspects in relation to the shooting which marks the second incident in the vicinity of the university in a fortnight, during their initial response they arrived around 10:30 am to the 500 block of Nash Street on account of a shooting, the news release from the police department, in a statement obtained by FOX8, has pointed out that it remains under investigation and it was further stated that the Akron Police Major Crimes Unit detectives will collaborate with the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office to determine the appropriateness of criminal charges.
