This week marks 50 years since Herb Huff took his future wife on their first date at Kent State. The two met in 1976, graduated in 1979 and married in 1982.
When asked to take him back to where it all began, Herb Huff points to a residence hall that no longer stands. Both of them lived in Munzenmayer Hall, a small-group housing unit in Kent State’s lower quad, across the street from where Stewart Hall now stands.
The dorm was language-oriented, housing French, German and Spanish language students led by graduate student resident assistants. Though neither Huff nor his future wife were language majors, they qualified to live in the French house. This ultimately brought the two together.
