Jumpers “take a dip in the chip” during Chippewa Lake’s annual Polar Bear Jump

CHIPPEWA LAKE — People jumped into the icy waters of Chippewa Lake to raise funds for local causes as part of the Chippewa Lake Lions Club Foundation’s annual Polar Bear Jump on Saturday.

Committee leader Alan Robbins said this year’s event was originally scheduled for Jan. 31, but it had to be rescheduled to Valentine’s Day because of the dangerously cold temperatures that weekend.

“It’s been held for 16 years this year, and it has become a neat tradition,” he said. “Obviously, it’s in the winter, and people are looking for a break to do things. We offer them that opportunity.”…
