9 indicted in Akron after crackdown on ‘Down the Way’ gang’s alleged criminal activities, police announce

AKRON, Ohio — A Summit County grand jury has indicted nine people following a multi-year investigation into a criminal gang operating in Akron between 2019 and 2024, police announced Wednesday.

The investigation, led by the Akron Police Department, focused on alleged members of the Down the Way gang, also known as DTW, whom authorities say were involved in an ongoing pattern of criminal activity.

On Wednesday morning, detectives with Akron police’s Anti-Violence Bureau assisted the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in executing five arrest warrants related to the case, police said.
