STARK COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – Scammers are targeting Stark County residents with fake calls and texts saying they are from the Stark County Jail or Stark County Courts, claiming they can release a loved one for a fee.

No one will ever text or call you to buy an ankle monitor so someone can be released from jail. Ankle bracelets are ordered and managed through the courts, never through random messages demanding payment.
