Canton Township man avoids prison for accidental skid steer death

CANTON − A 25-year-old Canton Township man has avoided prison for accidentally killing his friend by backing a skid steer over him during a party in Perry Township.

Stark County Common Pleas Judge Frank Forchione sentenced Michael A. Kennedy on March 12 based on the guilty plea Kennedy made March 2 to a reckless operation charge in connection with the death of Cole Parker.

Forchione sentenced Kennedy to 30 days in jail, which he suspended on condition of two years’ good behavior. The judge imposed the maxumum fine of $250 for the misdemeanor charge. Kennedy will have four points put on his driver’s license…
