CANTON – The Ohio Department of Health has completed a study of the former Republic Steel site, finding that children living nearby may have faced lead exposure risks before the facility closed in 2023.
The department recommends preventive steps for residents, including blood lead testing for children and measures to reduce lead exposure at home.
