Multi-state kidnapping starts in Akron, victim escapes at New Jersey truck stop

AKRON, Ohio – A Florida man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping after a multistate abduction that started in Akron, and ended when his victim escaped at a truck stop in New Jersey.

Ahad Hasanov, 31, of Wesley Chapel, Florida, faces charges of first-degree kidnapping, third-degree criminal restraint and fourth degree tampering with evidence in connection with an incident that began in Akron, according to a release from Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson.

Hasanov met the victim in Akron on Mar. 4, after the two connected online. Hasanov later restrained the victim with tape and traveled across multiple states, during which he repeatedly sexually assaulted the victim, prosecutors said…
