CPD Officer Loses Job Again Over 2024 Incident

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – A Stark County common pleas judge has reinstated the firing of the Canton police officer seen in body camera video deploying his K-9 officer on a man during an arrest incident back in 2024.

Judge Natalie Haupt ruled that Officer Nicholas Casto should not have been given his job back in September of last year by an arbitrator.

She wrote that the officer used excessive force during the incident, and that the decision of the arbitrator was flawed on several levels…
