Cleveland police arrest woman in deadly hit-and-run crash

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland police have arrested a 22-year-old Maple Heights woman in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian early Sunday morning.

The deadly collision happened just before 1:15 a.m. at Lee Road and Miles Avenue. A Cleveland Division of Police spokesperson said a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling northbound on Lee Road appeared to be moving at a high rate of speed when it ran a red light and struck a pedestrian crossing outside the crosswalk, WKYC reports.

The Jeep then veered off the road and crashed into a metal railing and concrete staircase. Despite heavy damage to the vehicle and losing a tire in the crash, the driver left the scene without stopping, according to police…
