Alliance-area news in brief for April 24

GARDEN CLUB – Greater Alliance Community Garden Association will meet at 5:30 p.m. April 28 at Rodman Public Library. A presentation on Gardening 101 will be provided. Residents are welcome to attend.

LOUISVILLE SCHOOLS – Louisville City Schools Board of Education plans a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. April 28 in the board’s office, 407 E. Main St. in Louisville. Purpose of the meeting is for the board to recess into an executive session to discuss employees’ employment.

VETERANS FOOD – Stark County Sheriff’s Office, Louisville Police Department and the Veterans Service Commission of Stark County have opened their annual community food drive to benefit veterans at the Honor Home in Canton. The public is invited to contribute. Donations of non-perishable food items can be dropped off May 1 through May 31 at the sheriff’s office, 4500 Atlantic Blvd. in Canton, 24 hours a day in the safety lobby; Louisville Police Department, open 24 hours a day at 1150 W. Main St. in Louisville; Stark County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Training Center, 143 1st St. SE in Massillon, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday; and at the Veterans Service Commission of Stark County, 2955 Wise Ave. NW in Canton, which is open 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Honor Home offers transitional housing to veterans on their journey to permanent housing. Assistance is available to homeless women veterans and their children, as well as single male veterans…
