Akron providing free summer meals for eligible youth

AKRON, Ohio – The city of Akron will provide free meals to eligible youth (ages 18 and younger) and summer day camp participants beginning next month.

The program offers free breakfast and lunch at 15 locations. To be eligible for the free meals, a child’s family must meet income guidelines for reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program. Children who live in households that receive food stamps or benefits under the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations, or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families are automatically eligible to receive free meals, according to a news release…
