SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) — The Summit Metro Parks is warning people about a group of coyotes that have set up a den near the Firestone Metro Park.

The Metro Parks issued a wildlife notice Monday, saying that while the den is not part of the park’s property, there is a park access point from Harrington Road that should be avoided at this time.

However, the Metro Parks said the den is only temporary.

“Like humans, coyote parents are highly protective of their young and may become defensive if they feel a threat is too close,” the Metro Parks said. “Once the pups have matured, the family will abandon the den and defensive displays from coyotes will cease.”
