ALBANY — A five-judge appeals court upheld Kevin Monahan’s conviction in the April 15, 2023, shooting death of Kaylin Gillis, the 20-year-old woman he killed when he opened fire on an SUV that turned around in the driveway of his Hebron home.
The unanimous ruling from the Appellate Division of the state Supreme Court leaves Monahan with few options for further appeals. He is serving 26⅓ years to life in prison after a jury convicted him of murder, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence in January 2024.
The unanimous decision means Monahan must submit a “motion for leave to appeal,” a rarely granted legal effort to convince the state Court of Appeals to allow his case to be heard in the state’s highest court…
