ALBANY — The city may continue engaging a private lobbying firm to represent its business in state government after the contract Mayor Dorcey Applyrs signed with the Albany firm Brown & Weinraub ends on June 30.
Zipporah Hommel, the mayor’s spokeswoman, said Monday the administration plans to let the $4,500-per-month agreement it signed with the firm in March expire on its June 30 end date before “(making) a decision about bringing on someone long term.”
“Not ruling it out,” Hommel said in a brief interview. “It’s clear this was a very successful partnership. The results of our partnered advocacy here were historic. A $20 million year-over-year commitment is a major win for residents, and the mayor really recognizes the importance of additional support in navigating the state Legislature process. That’s why she brought on the expert team that she did.”…
