K2 cases rising in Albany County, law enforcement leaders warn

Albany County law enforcement officials on Thursday warned about a spike in cases involving synthetic marijuana.

County District Attorney Lee Kindlon and Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple were among those who addressed the rise of what’s also known as K2 or spice, synthetic cannabinoids made of dried plant matter that is sprayed with chemical compounds made in labs.

While the legal designer drug mimics the psychoactive ingredient of marijuana, they said it is vastly stronger and can cause “unpredictable, violent and life-threatening reactions.”…
