SCHENECTADY — The final day of spring brought fall-like conditions Saturday to the Schenectady Municipal Golf Course, but that didn’t faze leaders of the Nancy Kroll Women’s Championship.
College golfers Dannah Smith (Monmouth) and Sienna Wheeler (Bryant), co-leaders after Friday’s opening round, were well-equipped for the wind and unseasonably cool temperatures.
“We play in unimaginable conditions,” said Smith, who shot a 1-over-par 73 to beat Wheeler by two strokes. “This is, for Sienna and I — I’m sure she’ll agree — not as much wind as we’ve ever played in before. College golf has definitely prepared me well for tournaments up here.”…
