Albany’s Riilaxx Tavern is closed, hopes to relocate

ALBANY — Riilaxx Tavern, which opened downtown in late winter and was heralded by Mayor Dorcey Applys at its ribbon-cutting event as another example of her “turning the lights back on” campaign for the city, has closed after less than three months.

On Wednesday afternoon, workers loaded stoves and other equipment onto a trailer in front of the business at 4 Sheridan Ave., while boxes, bags and furniture stood stacked inside. A U-Haul rental truck was across the street; another had been parked on the block late Tuesday. The bottom half of one side of its hexagonal sign, with the silhouette of a barefoot woman lounging in a giant martini glass, had been torn off by Wednesday afternoon.
