ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — As near-record-breaking heat creeps into the Capital Region ahead of Fourth of July weekend celebrations, several local businesses are modifying their hours or closing. The dangerous heatwave began on Wednesday, and Meteorologist Matt Mackie said an Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for most of the region through 8 p.m. on Friday.

Modified hours
DeFazio’s Pizzeria
DeFazio’s Pizzeria will work under modified hours for the remainder of the week, from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Additionally, DeFazio’s, at 216 4th Street in Troy, will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. They will also be closed on Saturday, July 4.
Kay’s Pizza
Kay’s Pizza on Walsh Lane in Averill Park is closing early on Wednesday and Thursday for the heat. The store will be open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. both days.
Jumpin’ Jack’s Drive-In
Jumpin’ Jacks Drive-In is operating on a modified schedule on Wednesday because of the heat. The drive-in is open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunnyside Gardens
Sunnyside Garden in Saratoga Springs will close at 3 p.m. on Wednesday and reopen with regular hours on Thursday.

Ted’s Fish Fry
Ted’s Fish Fry on Western Avenue in Albany and on Hoosick Road in Troy will close on Thursday, July 2, as a precaution against the forecasted extreme heat. They will also be closed on Saturday, July 4.
Huck Finn’s Playland
Huck Finn’s Playland will reopen on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Schuyler Bakery
Schuyler Bakery on 3rd Avenue in Watervliet will be closed for the heatwave on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4.
