LATHAM, NY (WRGB) — Tensions boiling over between protesters and the owners of Taste of Italy, leading to an altercation involving pepper spray Sunday morning.
This picture posted to Facebook by Jon Romano, the 2004 Columbia High School shooter, shows Alyssa Cappello spraying the pepper spray towards him while protesting on the side of Route 7. Romano’s post claims she ripped away his sign and pepper sprayed him. CBS6’s Anthony Krolikowski spoke to Cappello over the phone – she said she did spray at him with the pepper spray but it did not make contact. She also added that the sign was thrown at her, not taken from the protestor.
Cappello claims Romano and others has been threatening her family’s business for days, even coming inside. The protests, which stem from an inflammatory comment on the death of 7-year-old Harbe Nagi posted through the business’s Facebook account on Tuesday has cost Taste of Italy $30,000. She says part of that is because fake orders are being placed…
