Family of Schenectady boy raising money for cancer treatment in Texas

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — For 9-year-old Bennett Lundy, courage is his super power. When he was 3-years-old, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis, or LCH, a rare form of cancer caused by a build-up of cells. For Bennett, the cancer affects his lymph nodes, liver and sinus.

In February, Bennett was declared cancer free. His parents, Stephanie and Douglas, planned to bring him in for monthly testing to make sure the cancer stayed out of his system.

However, at the one month mark, testing results showed that the cancer may have come back.

“We’ve been talking to the doctor down in Texas Children’s for quite a few years,” said Douglas. “She’s been trying to help the doctors that we were seeing in Connecticut and here, and now he thinks that this is time for us to go see him.”

The trip to Texas is an expensive one, so Stephanie created a GoFundMe. This would help cover airfare to Texas, a place to stay, a rental car, meals and a $1,000 specialist consultation fee…
