CLIFTON PARK — Thousands of Shenendehowa students waited hours for their school bus Tuesday afternoon, standing by on the blacktop at their schools while their parents waited at their bus stops.
Middle school students were dismissed at 3:30 p.m. Most of them did not get onto a bus until 5:30 p.m., after waiting outdoors with limited access to food, water and bathrooms, according to parents and messages sent to families by the school district. A message to families from one of the middle schools explained that students weren’t allowed to leave their “bus slot” after dismissal, for fear of them missing their bus.
