Rising diesel prices put pressure on truck drivers, travel industry

CASTLETON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Something many have seen at the pumps is the increase in gas and fuel prices. The national average for a gallon of diesel continues to climb, currently sitting just shy of $6.30 per gallon. A week ago today, it was just breaking the six dollar mark. Of course, many are impacted by this change, and truck drivers are among the ones facing significant repercussions.

“I have to run harder, drive longer, take loads I don’t want to take,” said Terrance Nunn, an owner operator. “We’re pretty much doing America a favor moving freight around for a very cheap rate.”
