Steamboat Square to assist Albany’s housing crisis

ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) — An old high-rise with a new interior, Steamboat Square is bringing 343 units of affordable housing to Green Street in Albany. As construction continues, CBS6’s Anthony Krolikowski took a tour.

The building will feature one-bedroom apartments such as the one shown in the video and photos included. Steamboat Square is former public housing that Mayor Dorcey Applyrs said will help Albany’s housing crisis.

“My audit that I conducted as chief city auditor revealed that in the city we need housing across the spectrum from low-income affordable, all the way up to luxury housing and the demand is there but we don’t have the supply.”…
