MENANDS, N.Y. (WNYT)- Three Capital Region powerlifters in their 70s and 80s are heading to world championships after taking up the sport only a few years ago.
Jim Davis, who is 77 this month, Joyce Eggleston, 72, and Tami Allen, who will be 84 this week, train at Thrive Group Strength Training in Menands with owner and coach Derek Gelato. Through wins in local, regional and national competitions, they are now headed to the world championships in November in Houston.
