COLONIE — Twelve years ago this month, the old Hoffman’s Playland closed for good, ending a remarkable 62-year run.
The closure was a blow for the region and for those who grew up loving the amusement park. It was a loss for Colonie, which, for all its quality-of-life attributes, is short on the kind of community gathering places where people can meet, have fun and hang out.
