SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Schenectady County is already gearing up for its annual holiday parade. The legislature announced on Wednesday that Proctors will be the grand marshal of this year’s event.

The historic downtown landmark will celebrate its 100th anniversary in December. Built by impresario F.F. Proctor, the theater began as a destination for vaudeville performances but now, after being saved from demolition in the 1970s, offers Broadway shows, films and other special events.
“Being named Grand Marshal of the Schenectady County Holiday Parade during our centennial year is especially meaningful,” Proctors CEO said. “This community has supported Proctors through every chapter of our history, and we’re incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to celebrate this milestone alongside the people who have made it possible.”
The Schenectady County Holiday Parade is scheduled for November 21. Known as the largest nighttime parade in the northeast, this year’s event is expected to feature dozens of floats, vendors and live music.
