ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT) – Albany’s long-abandoned Central Warehouse is now being torn down, with county leaders saying the work is moving ahead as planned.
County Executive Dan McCoy said the demolition began Monday night and is expected to be finished by summer of 2027. The building has been abandoned for more than 30 years, and McCoy said getting to this point took longer than expected.
The next step is putting up scaffolding around the building, which officials said is expected to take around two months. All work is happening overnight from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. to avoid interrupting Amtrak service on the track next to the building…
