For animal lovers, few stories are more upsetting than those involving cruelty or neglect.

Unfortunately, we’ve reported far too many across the Capital Region and Upstate New York about animals allegedly abandoned and left to fend for themselves, disturbing hoarding situations, and cases involving dogs, cats, horses, and other animals found living in deplorable conditions.

While the details can be heartbreaking, knowing who has been convicted of animal cruelty can serve an important purpose: helping prevent animals from being placed into potentially dangerous situations in the future.
