GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (WNYT)-A local soldier is being remembered through family stories and a fundraiser that aims to support military families coping with loss.
Chief Warrant Officer John Grassia III grew up in Rotterdam and died March 8, 2024, in a military helicopter crash over Texas. The crash killed three soldiers, including Grassia and fellow soldier and friend Casey Frankoski of Rensselaer, and there was one survivor.
