Enrollment decreased at almost all Capital Region private colleges this year

Private colleges in the Albany, Schenectady and Troy area almost universally enrolled fewer students this fall, they said in enrollment reports. The only bright spot was Maria College, which focuses primarily on nursing.

Siena University and Union College, traditional liberal arts schools, each reported a small decline in enrollment for the 2026-2027 year.

For both Siena and Union, it is the third year in a row.
