Transfer station planned near Albany’s soon-to-be closed landfill

ALBANY — The city is running out of space for its trash.

And it’s also running out of time.

In roughly 12 months — but definitely not 13, officials say — the city will need to construct a 26,000-square-foot transfer station to replace its municipal landfill. It is anyone’s guess where the refuse will go once it is trucked out of the new facility, but leaders of the city Department of General Services say it will not stay there…
