MENANDS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society is facing two potential cases of feline panleukopenia. The viral disease is extremely contagious amongst cats, even if they are vaccinated.
“Fortunately, right now, only two cats are under suspicion of possibly having it,” said CEO and President of Mohawk Hudson Humane Society Ashley Jeffrey. “We are waiting to get results back to see if that’s what they have. But they are showing the typical signs of ‘panluk.’ [panleukopenia]”

Jeffrey says the two cats were vaccinated against the virus, but with different immune system strengths, they are still susceptible.
