Troopers seize over four pounds of cocaine in Thruway arrest

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York State Police arrested a Brooklyn man during a traffic stop last week in Albany. Kelvin Montana, 52, faces felony drug charges.

Troopers pulled over a car on the Thruway in Albany for an alleged vehicle and traffic law violation around 1:10 p.m. on September 30. During the stop, a State Police K9 reportedly detected the presence of drugs in the vehicle, leading to law enforcement conducting a search that yielded the recovery of nearly four and a half pounds of cocaine from a concealed compartment within the car.

The driver, Montana, was taken into custody at the scene and was charged with first and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was remanded to the Albany County Jail without bail after being arraigned in Albany City Court.
