Albany I-87 stop leads to cocaine charges for Brooklyn man

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT)- State police said a Brooklyn man faces felony drug charges after troopers found more than 2,000 grams of suspected cocaine hidden in a vehicle.

On Sept. 30, New York State Police (NYSP) said troopers with the Troop G Community Stabilization Unit, with help from Troop T, arrested Kelvin L. Montana, 52, of Brooklyn. Police charged him with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and a vehicle and traffic law violation.

NYSP said troopers stopped a vehicle driven by Montana at about 1:09 p.m. on Interstate 87 Thruway in Albany for a vehicle and traffic law violation. The investigation, with help from K9 “J,” found more than 2000 grams of a controlled substance in a concealed compartment of the vehicle that later field-tested positive for containing cocaine…
