CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. (WRGB) — The holidays don’t just magically happen, especially when putting on a dinner can be expensive. You may have already seen some deals going around. Price Rite has two complete Thanksgiving meal guides for ten people for $39 or less. CBS6’s Anthony Krolikowski stopped by Market 32 and Price Chopper for a preview of their version, a ready-to-cook feast at the same price point. But for families really feeling the weight of the economy, relief is being offered by Allie B’s Cozy Kitchen.
Market 32 and Price Chopper have been doing feast packages like this post-COVID but President Blaine Bringhurst says helping families afford the holiday goes back decades. “Historically, we lose a couple of million dollars a year on turkeys for Thanksgiving and we’re just trimming our margins on some of the other items to some of the accouterments. We’re using a lot of our own brands, PICS items, because of the cost is a little bit lower but it’s national brand equivalent quality.”
Bringhurst added that customers are saving $20 off the regular price of a turkey. He doesn’t expect to run out of feasts either from November 1st through Thanksgiving Day. “Even if you’re last minute, it’s a great opportunity to some families if they can afford to buy two and donate one to the food bank. $40 is, you know, that’s pretty inexpensive to give someone else a quality meal.”…
