VOORHEESVILLE —Blackbirds Tavern, the centerpiece of Ed Mitzen’s multiyear effort to remake a corner of his hometown, will close on Nov. 30, its operator announced Thursday, as an unnamed restaurateur moves to buy the South Main Street building.
The announcement, posted to the tavern’s social-media accounts with the heading “A Bittersweet Goodbye — and an Exciting New Beginning,” said a “new owner and operator is purchasing the building and preparing to bring something new to our community.”
The buyer, according to the post, already runs “a very successful local restaurant.” The post does not name the buyer, stating only that the outgoing operation will “leave the introductions and details to them.”…
