Dog found at unlicensed rescue in Cohoes recovering

COHOES, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — A severely injured dog found in Cohoes is on the road to recovery. The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society said the dog, now named Sprite, is no longer using a feeding tube. She is still being treated at a local veterinary hospital, but her condition is improving.

More than 100 animals were found on Jan. 17 at an unlicensed rescue organization being operated out of a home on Baker Avenue. Investigators believe the animals came from overcrowded shelters in other states.

The rescue’s founder said she became overwhelmed and was in the process of getting a license. She’s been charged with animal cruelty.
