According to the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office, Powers admitted to using a company-issued credit card to benefit herself while employed at Cascades, Inc. The District Attorney’s Office says Powers’ purchases amounted to $548,993 over five years.

Authorities say Powers hid the larceny by claiming the charges were for legitimate business purposes and she submitted fake, modified, or incomplete receipts.

Authorities say during her plea, Powers said the purchases she made were for her benefit resulting in her receiving income that she didn’t report on her tax returns. An investigation by the New York State Department of Taxation and Financial Crimes Unit found she avoided paying $33,552 in taxes and is now liable for that amount and an additional amount in penalties and interest.
